POPIA notice

Last updated:

The short version

BoreholeZA follows the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). Read this notice together with our Privacy Policy, which has the full detail.

Why we collect your information

  • Quote requests: to pass your request to drilling or pump companies listed for your area so they can quote.
  • Claims, enquiries and messages: to answer you and to correct or remove listings.
  • Analytics: only if you accept the banner, and then through Google Analytics, which receives usage data.

How consent works

Our forms have a required tick box. On the quote form it reads: "I agree that BoreholeZA may contact me about this request and share these details with drilling companies in my area so they can quote." Ticking it is your consent, and we record when you gave it. You can withdraw consent at any time through the contact form (choose "Privacy request"). Withdrawing stops us passing on your details from then on, but we cannot recall details a company already has.

Who receives your details

Drilling and pump companies listed in the directory, chosen by us for your area. They are independent and responsible for how they handle your details once they have them. We do not verify them. Some may pay us for introductions.

Information officer

For any POPIA question, or to reach our information officer, use the contact form and choose "Privacy request".

The Information Regulator

If you are unhappy with how we handled your personal information you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. POPIA complaints are made through the Regulator's eServices portal.
